Around Portloe
Portloe is a quintessential little Cornish fishing village with a harbour for small boats and a little beach which is great for paddling and swimming out in to the cove.
In Portloe itself there is The Ship Inn which also serves food. The Lugger, a boutique hotel in the village with a restaurant is a few yards from the house. There are a number of additional excellent restaurants and inns in the area including The New Inn at Veryan, the Nare Hotel overlooking Carne Beach, The Driftwood Hotel in Rosevine and the Hotel Tresanton and Idle Rocks in St Mawes. For more casual eating out, try The Hidden Hut at Porthcurnick beach – voted best beach side café in England.
The house is situated on the South West Coast Path and beautiful cliff walks can be taken in both directions. Further varied walks can be taken in the Roseland – both coastal and inland.
The beaches of Carne and Pendower are close by where you can enjoy swimming and exploring the rock pools.
There are opportunities for sailors of all kinds on the waters of the estuaries and open sea.
For art lovers the many galleries in the area are well worth a visit.
Beautiful famous gardens and historic houses including Trelissick, Lanhydrock, Trebah Garden, Caerhays and Glendurgan should not be missed.
Cliff Garden is ideally placed to visit further afield in Cornwall for example, Cornwall’s north coast line is less than half an hours drive away.
